I joined aupair world but by far the best applicants were from my gumtree ad!

I've used agents and not had much luck with them - one lied to me about driving ability and the girl came all the way form turkey and had to go back....these days I use greataupair dot com, I ended up with 200 applicants for the last job and found the nanny of my dreams there. costs about 60 quid.

I have had success in the past with nannyjob, gumtree and an nanny agency ?
I am currently using Au pair World and find it soooo frustrating, it seems like Au pair window shopping site. I have had loads of responses and whittled it down to a possible 10 ? replying promptly and then hear nothing more!!

After finally finding 3 possibilities and agreeing start dates ? heard nothing more even though applicants are still active on the site. I feel like I have wasted hours. I have also took the pro-active approach by sending messages out to profiles I like, again have had loads of yes?s responses that doesn?t progress further.

Am I missing something here?Is there a better way of using this site??

i too am having problems with au pair sites. I am needing childcare at weekends and time off in the week. I have not had any responses in 6 months.

I have used Greataupair.com. My approach is interview only those that are in the country already and speak to their current employers. I have had only one disaster, but that was mainy due to her being very spoilt. Even she stayed 9 months.
