I have recently been approved for registration in Barnet- but I am wondering how long it takes to get your first client. I have registered my profile with Barnet and Childcare. I am wondering what other websites are good for advertising and how long does it take to get the first client.

When I first registered I had my own young children so told everyone I knew I was registered and found a family to look after through word of mouth. Are you on Facebook? Can you advertise via that? Maybe put a status up that you are newly registered. Some areas have parent and child pages you may be able to put on ad on. I think it can be harder to find your first family than subsequent ones, so don't lose heart if it takes a while. (I have no idea where Barnett is by the way, or what childminding demand is like there).

Got my first one almost immediately (family friend) and gradually filled up and had no vacancies after 6 months. Same happened for DH (except his first was someone who got him off the FIS list).

Hi Lucy, thank you for your advise and encouragement. My kids are older However i do a pick up in the afternoon of 3 children from a private School, put their parents prefer Nannies. The Nannies dont seem to drive so I take the childen home. It seems to me that Nannies are a cheaper option when you have more than one child. The area I live in comes under the county Herts but its in london.

See if the school has a newsletter that they will let you put an ad in. All of my current children are somehow linked to my own children's school. I have had enquiries in the past from childcare.co.uk too, and also netmums local page.
