Hi there

I live near Gatwick in W Sussex and am desperate for some CM advice. I work full time and our daughter is currently happily settled at her nursery. however, she starts school in Sep 2007 and as a full time working mum i am really worried about how to manage this. Our catchment school is a lovely little village school (Rusper) and we are really keen for her to go there. However, I need to find a CM who she can go to at least a couple of days a week after school. Does anyone know of a CM who will collect from Rusper School? Any help gratefully recieved- have look and childcarelink.gov, but couldnt find anything. As I am sure you undertstand, I want to be sure I cna find a CM before we apply for her place. Am a bit daunted by her starting school in the first place!
Many thanks in advance...

Cheeky xx

to be honest i think i would book her place at the school first because you want her to go to that school and they fill places quickly and also its hard to know that far in advance if the cm will have a space (they can hazard a guess but no guarantee unless you are willing to pay a retainer which is half fee from when the space is available until your dd starts)
im not from your area so cant help any more than that. good luck with your search.

Hi I am just down the road (Horsham) and had a similar problem I'm afraid i pretty much gave up trying to juggle the cm side of things and went for an au pair which is working well I expect someone else will be along to give you advise soon as I know there are some mumsnet horsham cm members!

Checking on the CIS Website doesn't neccessarily(sp) mean that there are no childminders in Rusper, it could be that those that are there just don't have any vacancies at present. The best things to do is to ring the CIS in Chichester on 01243 777807 & ask them to send you a list of childminders in Rusper ( I know there certainly used to be a couple at least) and then start contacting them to find out if they might have an idea if they have any vacancies next September, as they might have an idea of possibilities now, the other thing to do is to contact Rusper School & see if they know of any childminders who collect, as most schools would be aware of which children are collected/dropped off by childminders & who they are. There is also 'Time Out' an after school club run at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre & they collect from most schools around the Horsham Area, but whether they come out to Rusper or not I don't know, but it might be worth enquiring. Good luck with your search, sorry I cant help but I only collect from Kingslea School.
