at the start of sept i had a friend of my current mindee's mum needing a space for the start of oct so i agreed i would keep the space if she def wanted it, now i have turned 2 people away and the mum is saying she will need the space sometime in october so im thinking about asking for a retainer as im losing business and she definately wants the space, thing is what do i say if she says no, as ive already turned people away so id have to wait for another call for a ft'er which are rare or i could just keep hanging on and know that i will def get the business.

basically what im saying is i dont want to jepordise what i have already so what should i do if i ask for the retainer and she says no?

I'd give her a start date (say 15 oct as example) and say if she doesn't plan on taking the place up by then, you will need to start taking a retainer as of now as you've turned away people for the spot.

I personally would have charged from the start, but that's my choice.

ok i rang her, she said she's happy for me to give the space away (i didnt even push for a retainer though i did mention is afterwards) she said work are messing her about and she doesnt think its fair for me to lose out so if the space is there when she moves she'll take it but if not dont worry, she's now saying it could be christmas maybe later, i just cant wait that long to fill this space, i gave up working weekends and now we're slipping into debt at a stupid rate gutted, all my fault because i shouldnt have quit working weekends until i had a contract but i was just so tire dof working 6/7 days a week and wanted to spend time with my family.

i've tried calling them but no answer they've probably sorted something by now as it was about 2 weeks ago when they called.

i have....

put 2 adverts up in shops
emailed another cm asking her to please pass on anything she gets that she doesnt want.

i will.....
take business cards and flyers everywhere i go and ask all friends and family to do the same.
look in my local paper for a care job to tide us over (as we're really screwed esp with dd2's 1st birthday coming up and xmas and i've just paid out £300 to get my car on the road)

oh its days like this i just wanna pack in and be on income support and sit at home letting all you tax payers pay for me to be with my kids! (dont jump on me im joking - tho i am having a bad day and am tired of the stress, im too young to have a face like this.....)

tonight i will mostly be drinking wine and drowning my sorrows, after a row with dp about how skint we are....

hopefully tomorrow i will wake up fighting to save my business and telling dp how i can do this because i am a determined ambitious person that goes out there and gets what she wants!
