I have recently taken on a new 2 year old and an 8 month old, the problem is that some days I will have these two plus my other two year old mindee, I have a double buggy and have looked at buying a buggy board for the older 2 year old to use, however, during a conversation with a shop assitant about buggy boards she sai that they don't recommend them as they are unsafe, i.e that the child can fall off easily or tip the buggy over if they pull to hard on them. The two year old is fairly sensible in a two year old way but soon moans if we have to walk any long distance which we do.

The eight month old is quite heavy so can't really carry him in a sling and is also quite unsettled at the moment so I like to go out for walks as much as we can- plus visits to toddlers etc, also I don't have access to a car.
I was just interested in other minders/parents thoughts to the use of buggy boards, as obviously I don't want to use them if they are unsafe. Thanks if you're still with this!

Hi when i was childminding i used a buggy board for a two yr old.I wasnt keen on it because it didnt feel safe and the child has to get off everytime you go up or down a curb.
If i could of tried one before i bought it i wouldnt of bothered.

Can't the 2yr olds take turns in the buggy.
I have started this on the walk to school but it now takes 30mins instead of 20mins.

Dont use a sling use a proper baby backpack that you use to walk up mountains with. Slings are hopeless by comparison. Or get a triple buggy. I doont think Id trust a buggy board on a double buggy for a child so young.

mumlove, I don't know the new 2 year old as well as the older mindee, so I don't know whether I would trust that mindee on the buggy board. Thanks anyway- I can also see a 20 min journey taking a lot longer!

Ishyan, thanks but I really don't get on with backpacks for some reason, and I can't really justify the expence of a triple (except for my sanity!) or even navigate our narrow paths and pavements.

Think I will just stick to the reigns for now and a long sloooow walk.
Thanks guys!

i,ve just got a fab pram from e-bay (there new he has lots for sale) it was £200 plus £18 p&p

its a triple buggy with hood and rain cover and then with a click it turns into a double pram its fab great to push etc

i too some days have 2 children and others 3 children so this pram is great and easy to store (folds like an umbrella pram)

dmo - just had a quick look on ebay but couldn't find it. I don't need one but am interested to have a look.

I had a kiddieboard on the back of my double buggy and my daughter used it when she was about 2.5. She walked lots and got on it when she was tired. I could go up and down curbs with no problems We didn't go too far on it though - mainly the school runs PM when she was tired. I have a very easy to push 3 wheeler buggy so it wasn't too hard to push. Also she is tall so was stable on the boeard.

Thanks for the replies. Well, I've been offered the loan of a buggy board later this week- so will try it and see how we get on.

If you put reins on the child on the buggy board, it means that you still have control in case they do fall off.

A friend has got a buggy board that the child sits on, which seems a lot easier (and safer) for the child, but I don't know if they fit all buggies.
