Affordable Teenage babysitter

Hello, I've been babysitting in my local area for around a year now and I am about to turn 16. At the moment I'm kind of suck for where I can find any babysitting work, I was just wondering if anyone new of any free websites I can use to promote myself or if anyone living in the London borough of richmond upon Thames is looking for a reliable and fun loving babysitter.

Thanks!

I think quite a lot of people use gumtree or put ads up in local shops - but be careful because you could end up getting dodgy people calling up.

Do your parents relatives or friends know anyone with children? It's best to try and find families you know and trust to begin with.

Thank you though!

Oh cool - make sure you mention on your ad that you're experienced then!

childcare.co.uk is good - but I think you have to pay a subscription eventually? Might be worth a look

I actually went onto childcare.co.uk but it won't let me send a message unless I pay £19.99 which I think is a bit steep :c

Where in richmond? I have to say, best thing to do is get as many references as you can, particularly from people you regularly sit for. Any family you sit for, even once, just ask for a quick reference and make it known to them that you are looking for babysitting. Most of the families I sit for are either ones I work for now, or previously, or gotten through word of mouth.

However as it's richmond, you'll find yourself up against lots of nannies as the area has so many. Be prepared, know how you will get to each family, and get home. Someone looking for a sitter may ask what you'd do in an emergency, so know where the local hospital is for example. It's worth doing something to put yourself ahead of other sitters, so maybe try and take a paediatric first aid, or just a general one. At your age I did one through my youth club.
