Au pair can't start due to sick relative

Less than 2 weeks to go and she can't start. Part of me believes her and feels sorry. The other part of me has read too many stories on here and I think it's a coincidence I sent her the contract yesterday & today hey presto.

I don't have it in me to look for someone else. I also figure it's my fault for being a pushover when current au pair asked if she could go a month early. Most of her friends have left and I thought we could find a way round it.

I just need to rant. I'm sure it'll all work out, even if that means grovelling. Just annoying that as a single parent it always comes back to that.

Well it's fair enough I guess - if she felt there were things in your contract that wouldn't work for her. Best you know before she started? But I suppose it depends on whether you would of been willing to negotiate on terms.

I hope you find someone soon

It is fair enough and she had been here for a year. If I had said please stay she would have stayed but I hate saying no.

I misread your message I thought you were talking about the old au pair.
