Our fantastic childminder is stopping work after the summer and I want to get her something special to say thank you for looking after my DC so well.
Any ideas, beyond flowers/wine? Grin I'm planning on making a cake to take round (and eat!) on the DC's last day, but something that lasts would be nice too.

A plant she can put in the garden, rather than a bunch of flowers?

That's a nice idea thanks. I don't think she actually has much of a garden but perhaps something in a big pot would work!

If you go to a proper rose nursery, they have a rose named to express just about every sentiment you can think of, and a lot of the roses can be grown in a planter or up a trellis. Or you could perhaps find one for her Christian name - if it's not too unusual.

...I have just found a rose called Dick's Delight...Not suggesting you buy it, just illustrating how flexible they are!

Grin That's brilliant!

i had some beautiful jewelry bought for me-the mum noticed that I wore stones such as amber and bought me matching amethyst earrings and necklace.I love it.

My first mindee family has just left, for the youngest to go to school, after 2.5 years. Her mum bought me a lovely gift of a spa session with a meal. Plus handmade cards from each of the children. I was delighted!

For our childminder, I bought a nice scrapbook (just blank cream card pages) and got 4yo dd to draw memories on each page, and write short messages with help from me. Stuck a few photos in.
She loved it.

Or big pot and some bulbs - your DCs could help her plant it up?

HSMMaCM · 29/07/2014 17:12

Oh yes ... Bulbs ... Someone gave me some lovely tulips and every spring I am reminded of them.
