Help! Been waiting for DBS check for 6 weeks

Can anyone help? I am in the process of registering to be a CM. My DBS check has been stuck on Stage 4 (Police check) for over a month. I have called DBS twice to chase and they say I have to wait. I have two children hopefully starting with me in September but at this rate I will have to turn them down as I cannot apply to Ofsted until the DBS check is done! Does anyone know if there's anything I can do? Can I chase the police? Who do I call? I am in Essex...

Oh. And the frustrating thing is my husband's check came through 3 weeks ago. Grrrrr!

How many places have you lived at over the past 5 years?

Only one! I should be a straightforward one; nothing on me at all.

Keep chasing it up. I know they have set time limits for different things, but can remember what they are (basically you can't chase it before the deadline). DH had the same problem with his and it was just sitting in a tray at the police station. Nothing complicated.

I've chased dbs twice. They say it's with the police. Can i chase the police? Would it be Essex police if i am in Essex or my local police?
