Au Pair Phone Bill

Hi

Just looking for a bit of advice as to how to deal with this. Our au pair has run up a hone bill of £120 in the last month on calls to home. Previously she has always Skyped/emailed, so its never been an issue. Her contract has finished and she is going home at the end of next week, which I suspect may have prompted it.

What would you do re money? Generally she has been ok (not amazing) but I was going to give her a weeks wages (£120) as a leaving present. I'm pretty inclined not to now I have this enormous bill to pay?

! Well if the phone bill is the same as a weeks wages, I would feel completely justified to not give such a big leaving present. However, if she has still done a good job overall I think you should give her something, maybe a small gift and a heartfelt card or letter from you and the child(ren).

Yes, I already had a bracelet and a framed photo for her, with cards from the children. I think that is enough in the circumstances.

That certainly sounds like enough to me given the phone bill. In fact it sounds like a lovely going away present. Smile
