Childminders over the summer?

I think I have found a way that my husband, mum and I can manage all the school pick-ups next year for my reception aged child, subject to flexible working approval, but I wondered what options that leaves me RE Holidays, in particular the long summer holiday?

Are there childminders who would have a child through the summer but not any other time or are they like gold-dust? Or is this just not how they work, given that they would have their own childcare needs.

Yes it is possible, I have childminded for families who just come in the school holidays :)

Not all childminders have children that now need looking after. My childminder's kids are all grown up now and yes she does have a few extra older ones during the Summer and my DD loves being with the big boys and girls.

thank you - using one in just the holidays would mean I could find one nearer work.

Some childminders will look after the children of teachers who may not want their child being looked after over the summer. Why don't you find a couple of local ones and ask?

I will do - maybe a bit closer to Sept 2015 though.

I offer holiday places as most of my regular children are term time only but can't compete with holiday club prices so am rarely full.

I take holiday only children. I don't really like having after schoolers as my own children are at the age where they need a lot of help with homework and it is just gets too chaotic in the afternoon, but during the holidays I'm happy to maximise my income. So, yes you may well find someone.

I don't have school children during term time, so my schoolers only come in the holidays and Just book what they need
