I have been asked to provide a reference for our previous nanny. I cannot say enough good things about her, but I want it to be precise and helpful on a practical level to another potential employer.

What would you like a rerference to cover?

I have covered:

How long she was with us
Ages of children looked after
Nanny duties
Punctuality and timekeeping
Sickness record
Things she did with the children
Professionalism, reliability
Her relationships and interaction with the children - lots about this

Honesty, reliability, punctuality, attitude to work, resourcefulness, initiative, skills - domestic, cooking, crafts?, how quickly/well she related to the children, judgement, how she handled an emergency or crisis if you can think of a relevant example. Plus of course the factual stuff - when she started, what hours she worked, ages of children, sole charge or shared care, why she is leaving you.
