possible to find a short term temporary nanny job?

Hello all,

I am wondering whether there is any particular website advertizing short term temporary nanny jobs? (by short term I mean for example a week or two) Is that quite common or do most families prefer long term carers? (that makes sense to me) I checked gumtree and there doesn´t seem to be much in that respect.

My situation is a bit complicated, I am not based in the UK so only available for a Skype interview, and I am actually not a professional carer (I work in a different field)....however I love kids and I decided to spend a week or two taking a break from my tiring office job being out and about with children instead :)... I have plenty of experience as I used to work as an au-pair when I was younger (now I am 27 and my last au-pair summer in London was when I was 21), I also worked as a part-time live-out nanny in my home country during my studies for a while (looking after a 1yr old in an English speaking family) My English is fluent so no issues there either. I would obviously cover my flights to England.

Any hint of whether I might have any chance of actually finding a temp job like that, or even if some of you is looking for someone like me, would be great :) Thank you!

Don't think there is any particular website to use. Try looking on Gumtree, Childcare.co.uk, Care.com
Temp nannies are not common, though sometimes parents do need someone to cover at short notice for a nannies sick leave, so you may find someone looking.

You can filter by temporary or permanent on nannyjob.co.uk but the majority there seem to be agencies. That said if you register with them you might get a couple of jobs to suit you?

Im a temp /emergency nanny and I get a lot of work via agencies as well as word of mouth - tho I'm local and obv any agency will want to meet and check you out first before sending you for jobs

Think you will find it hard to find a job literally for 2 weeks if not in the country - but worth looking on gumtree etc
