Flexible childcare options?!

I'm a nurse working for the NHS at the moment but thinking about going down the agency road. If we do this though, we need flexible childcare as we can't afford to pay someone for the set days i'm happy to work to find I don't get any work at times iyswim- so one week I might need 3 days, another just 1 and another none at all.

Any solutions?!

What age children? Some nurseries do ad-hoc care but cost is more than if on contract.

Try Childcare.co.uk but remember to pay the gold/premium fee as nannies won't because if you think about it agencies don't charge nannies to register with them. The employers do eg parents.

I got my current job through an agency. If my new employer had paid the premium she wouldn't have had to be pay the £1300 she now has to pay the agency. I saw her advert but could not get in contact. Then saw the same job with agency. The rest is history.

I'm a cm & with another cm we 'share' a child. Neither of us can do everyday & the mum doesn't work some wks and other wks we have her everyday between us. We did say that even when not working she should still come a few hrs a wk. so you might find a few cm that are willing to do this.

I used to cm for a nurse doing 4 day shifts which varied each week & also did a share with another cm. I covered tues-thur and she did any mon & fri but I charged for 1 day a week regardless & other cm also charged something but not sure how much (then invoice any extra she used). I certainly wouldn't do it for less than 1 guaranteed day a week nor would I block my whole week but a share can work really well for shift workers.
