Settling in with childminder - tips to prepare/help

Hi All,

LittleBiscuits will be starting with a childminder for the first time in a couple of months, part-time, as I am returning to work. 2 days with cm, one with grandparents.

Any tips to help prepare/settle LB, who will be just over a year then? He hasn't been left with anyone but OH for more than an hour and then only with GPs.

Any help appreciated!

He might find it hard at first. What has the CM suggested? I normally start with a couple of hours, up to half day when the child is ready. I don't encourage parents to stay unless there is a particular need.

It would do no harm to start building up the time spent away from you, especially as you can do this with the GPs. Sticking points tend to be eating and settling for naps. If you can get LB used to doing those without you, I think you will have eased his transition enormously.
