Been on Au Pair World for a few weeks advertising a position to start in September, ready for the back to school stuff. I'm only selecting english speaking countries as i want a fluent english speaking au pair for good communication. I found a good looking potential with a good bio about themselves.
I messaged them and they replied interiorly in text speak,
ex. 'hi, so vry hpy u slectd me, if u wnt to no any questions let me no.
thnx'

I dont think i can take that conversation further! i think its a pet hate of mine.

can any of you guys relate, or do any of you have stories about au pair applications?

Not professional at all!

Honestly.. I would meet them.

It could be they were driving and in excitement got their passenger to reply

I'd give them a chance, it's still quite common to use phones with a limited number of characters available to use in a text message. Personally I prefer not to use "txt spk" but in this case would give them a chance.

So part of her reply was " if you want to know any questions ...."
That would concern me more than the text speak .

minderjinx · 17/04/2014 14:14

I agree with Jackie0. I concede that it is lucky that I do not want an au pair.

Though to be fair to AP, OP, your own original post has quite a few errors, so if your message to her was similar, maybe she thought you were quite laid back about such things.

I thinks its awful. I know several teachers who respond like that!
