ad hoc childcare options

Hi, I'm posting to try and help my mum out. My brother is a newly single dad and has been asking my mum to look after his 4 year old when he's away on business which she's been doing but this week he's left his son with Mum even though she told him she couldn't do March 6. Typically he's left it to her to make other arrangements. Does anyone know a good person, agency or service around waterlooville in Hampshire or a national one? What would the best option be for this sort of ad hoc care? Thanks

Sitters (agency) does evening care and some daytime, nationally.

You may find a local nanny agency is able to provide a temp nanny.

Local childminders may have space to take a child on a temporary basis - contact Family Information Service for a list of childminders. hantsnet may list some.

What hours of care, sounds like it could be all day and evening, overnight. Depending on the timing involved it may be hard to find one person to do it, may need several different people.

Thanks for the quick reply. It would just be during the day this time. Probably from around 10 til 430.

For daytime, then try local childminders, possibly a local day nursery, or a nanny/babysitting agency.

It may not be that easy, so start making enquiries now.

Hope you can find someone to help out on this occasion.

Thanks for the link and advice. I'll pass it on to my mum. Something has to be sorted as she has a meeting in London and I'm in Bristol so can't help.
