to put you in touch with other people who need childcare? i did it today and she knows someone who is looking but is after a nursery but at least i asked and got the chance to give her some business cards so she can give them to anyone else that asks.

So im glad i asked and wondered if its the done thing? i worried i was being cheeky but not being cheeky doesn't pay the bills does it..

You've done the right thing. I recently got new business through a exisiting mindee and after hearing who recommended me I said as a joke "i should give you some business cards" and just before the school hols she actually asked for some. I feel guilty as I've just charged her a retainer for the school hols!!

Speaking as a parent I think you did the right thing. I would always be happy to recommend good childcare but unless you sat you are looking for more mindees parents would probably assume you had enough mindees.

it would be nice to have two mindees that already know each other, they're about the same age as well so i would be able to do activites for their age without worrying about the older/ younger one not being challenged iyswim.

I always make sure that my parents know if I have vacancies coming up. Their recommendation for their own childminder is far more likely to get us work than an anonymous list of minders on the CIS website.
