Don't get paid for 'Trial' days??

I have done 3 trial days so far with the family and am going back this eve. Nothing has been mentioned from the mum about starting officially as of yet and I was wondering if the days I have done so far will I be paid for? I am going through an agency.

Ask the agency?

Why dont you ask the agency? Surely you cannot offer THREE days for free...

Wow, that is quite some cheek. A trial is one day and then any other days should be paid. This is where the agency is failing in not protecting the nannies. Get onto it today and sort it, if no job offer is forthcoming I'd be doing now more free trial days.

Last year an international family went around nearly every London agency taking on nannies on trials of a couple of weeks and then letting them go, it meant they got child care and the agencies didn't get any fees.

Three days is a lot to give for free, yes def ask the agency. I've never asked anyone to do more than a couple of hours trial.

There's no other job where you'd be expected to work for nothing.

def speak to agency - personally i havnt ever done trial days but if i did then yes would want to be paid plus one day is enough

have you actually got the job/signed a contract etc

pookie81 · 03/02/2014 15:03

Thanks for your comments. Blondeshavemorefun- I haven't got a contract yet, the agency just said they ring me once they've spoken with the mum but I'm due to go there again this evening. I still don't know if i've officially got the job!

Say you can't go tonight unless a pay rate is sorted, even if the final contract is to follow.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2014 15:30

what time in eve? weird to trial days in eve, unless they are sorting out contract tonight and gonna offer you the job

do you want it?

and def speak to agency asap
