Best car for a CM?

We are looking at getting a new car, looked at Zafira, but once the extra seats are up - there doesn't seem much room for a double buggy - I have an Out and about 3 wheeler.

What cars do the lovely CM's of Mumsnet have?

oh dear lord nooooo.... run screaming and kicking in the other direction. not a zafira anyway. unless its free and you don't want to drive anywhere but to your nearest Vauxhall dealer and back. try a VW or something.

I would have said a Kia Sedona - big, sturdy, loads of storage room etc. But ours was reasonably reliable for seven years, then since it has been out of warranty absolutely EVERYTHING has gone wrong and this year's bills have run into thousands. Either we have been really unlucky or they are designed to self destruct as soon as the warranty runs out!

I have a cmax and I love it. It's only 5 seats though. If we change it will be for an smax or a galaxy.

Thanks the Zafira is definitely off the list as with all the seats filled I definitely could get a pushchair in.

Thinking a s- Max or galaxy but they are far more expensive.

I might just continue making the kids walk although they manage to turn a 15 minute walk into double that. And I end up out if the house for an hour in the freezing cold.

I've got a Peugeot 307 estate. I can fit my nipper double in the back if I pop the front wheel off.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/02/2014 15:21

ive had a s max several times as a nanny and i love them :)

3 seats fit easily in middle then can have 2 in the boot and yes a double maclaren fits in the space, or can have one seat up and bigger boot or both 6 and 7 seats up and huge boot where woofa a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge used to sit happily - 10.5 stone dog

rarely go wrong but if they do then ford are cheaper then most others cars

Cheers DH's cousin has a s-Max so we might have to go round and see if my pushchair fits I might have to take the wheel off though.

I have a Seat Alhambra - use 6 seats up and then a double and single pushchair where seat 7 would be. Works for us as I never have more than 4 children.

goldie81 · 01/02/2014 20:31

I've got a Renault grand espace. All individual seats & can adjust how far forward back 2seats are. Boot quite big. Only drawback is seats to take out are quite heavy

ElectricalBanana · 01/02/2014 21:59

When ( and if) our 10 yr old cmax gives up the ghost we will take the Phil and teds with doubles kit along to try out in boots.... It's the boot which will be the decider!

MPB · 02/02/2014 00:25

I took ours along but knew it wouldn't go in a Zafira, possibly with the wheel off, but god what a faff. Plus I'd have to constantly be moving car seats and currently chuck them in my Astra estates boot when it in use.

Toyota Previa and estima have been mine. Both worked well.
