I'm looking for a bit of help please! What would be an acceptable amount to pay a nanny (gross) for 32 hours spread over Monday-Thursday? ie- 9:00-5:00pm. (One baby and one toddler) We are based in Surrey. Thanks so much!!

We aimed for approx. 8.50 net which was about 10.30 gross per hour. For 32hr per week would cost 329 with an annual salary of 17134. There would be employers NI on top which would be about 1300ish. We were in Hampshire and paid the above hourly rate for a 40.5hr week.

Inside or outside the M25? That seems to make a difference.

Outside the M25 I would suspect that an annual salary of around £17,000 - less if someone inexperienced. Inside the M25 it seems to be about 20% higher. Guess it's the London Effect.

However look at what you can afford, advertise the job with salary specified and see what applicants you get.

The hours are pretty nice... no early start, late finish. So could be an attractive job to those who do not need to earn large amounts - after all some nanny jobs can be almost double the hours!

Thanks Nannynick and 2plus1! That is super helpful:) the salary you have suggested is exactly what we were thinking, good to know we weren't too far off:)
