Hello there

I have a three year old who will need wrap around care when he goes to school in 2015/16 (I like to think ahead!)

a bit confused about how it all works so I have some questions that I wondered if you might be able to answer for a simpleton...

  1. can you use childcare vouchers to pay a childminder (Sorry if this is a really stoopid question!)
  1. Can you claim back tax credits if you are paying a childminder?
  1. how easy is it to get a childminder who will pick up a child during term times and look after them for a couple of hours until work ends but will also look after your child all through the holidays?
  1. what alternatives are there?
  1. is there a site somewhere that has the answers to all these questions and more?

many thanks in advance.

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. Standard request so in theory should be easy. Contact school to ask for a list of cm who already collect from there.
  4. Nanny? After school clubs?
  5. Here! Try childcare.co.uk

Agree with Nick Nacks.
Also try Family Information Service for your area - they have information about what's about in your area.

A lot of (daycare) Nurseries also do school pick ups / drop offs / wrap around care for Under 8s, and of course schools often have breakfast and after school clubs too, as well as CMs, just to give you more options.
