What sort of receipts do you need for tax returns? We have been buying stuff like safety gates, fencing, etc both for our crawling baby but also to be used for childminding, can I claim this as tax deductible ? And do we need receipts because we have been abit rubbish and not really kept them. Can we use bank statements?

You need receipts for anything over £10 and should only claim for things that are for the business not things you would have bought for your own child. You could however say you would not have bothered with stair gates for your own child ...
