it depends on what your contract says I think.
Mine normally stipulated 4 weeks notice period so that would be 28 days

They are not sure if they want 5 weeks because of contracts or 4 weeks. Contract says 4 weeks but wasnt sure if it was 28 working days or 28 days from day of notice.

Think they will try to get out of it anyway but need to be sure before i talk to them.

I used to treat it as 4 weeks of 7 days but I'm no legal eagle

A normal reading of 4 weeks would mean 28 days, rather 28 working days. But read your whole contract to see whether "weeks" or "days" has been defined differently in the fine print. Unlikely because if they meant 28 working days, the contract should specifically state "28 working days".

thats fine then just wanted to know before in case they want a shorter notice period which i can offer if they chose to take child away buit wont refund anything.
