Settling in

My 10 month old has been going to cm four days a weeks for two weeks. He is really unsettled and crying a lot. She keeps telling me that he should have settled by now and she may have to give me notice if he hadn't settled in a couple of weeks. Is my ds taking an unusually long time to settle? I'm really surprised and upset, hes usually such a happily friendly little boy :(

He is probably just at 'that' age, but I might help if you can tell her the little things you do to calm him, ie:
Blow on his hair
Pat his tummy before her goes to sleep
Clap
Take him outside
Or whatever.

I find it's usually the little things that help a child settle.

Alternatively, maybe it's too noisy, or he doesn't get carried as much as he's used to, or he simply has separation anxiety, which should calm down soon.

Don't worry he will settle. I had a little girl start with me and she took 3&half /4wks 2settle. All children are different and this change some really struggle with.
Going 4days is a big help. The little one I had would cry more if I picked her up even to begin with, yet in settling in sessions she was very happy playing with me. I found that she found most comfort being in the buggy so to begin with she did spend some time in there. I'd play with her, read books etc while she was in what she saw as her safe place.
Now a year on she is by my side all the time &to the point she is very reluctant to go home.
So hang on in there & hopefully your minder will do too. Worth it in long run, as otherwise you will be starting settling in somewhere else all over again!

Don't blame your DS - it doesn't sound as though this CM wants to put in the work to earn his trust. Has she had children of this age before? I'm also surprised that she's only given it two weeks. I would expect anything up to six weeks for a child to settle comfortably, especially at this age.
