Can anyone point me to a good pro forma nanny contract please?

just that really, I need to draw up a draft contract for our first nanny starting in October and not sure which pro forma to use as there seem to be several, I'm not sure if some are unduly complicated or harsh on the nanny or whatever.

I've asked the nanny if she has a preferred form but she doesn't.

if anyone can point me towards one they think is good/clear etc that would be most helpful.

There are 2 on the nannyjob site although I would modify it slightly to make sure it's a gross wage and 28 days holiday.

www.bapn.org.uk have a very comprehensive and fair contract but I'm not sure they give it to non-members. Worth contacting them and asking.

the second nanny job one looks quite complete but it seems quite harsh eg only one week's notice to terminate...? is that normal?

It's the legal minimum. You can modify it and up it if you want. The termination clause looks like it needs rewriting completely because it just don't make sense.

If using that one I would also specify instant dismissal for gross misconduct and what it consists of.

You could always get your nanny to sign up to get your hands on the contract. It's about 15 pages long though!!!

Example contracts need modifying to suit the job, notice during probation period is often short, once probation is over then notice can be whatever you like but min of 1 week.

ACAS.org.uk has info on producing a Written Statement. Read that guideance to make changes to the example nanny contract.

Your nanny payroll company may be able to provide an example contract, they may be able to create a bespoke one for you though that may be at a cost.

thanks Nom and nick, not sure I can face a 15 page contract tbh but will have a careful read through the nannyjob pro formas and see what might need changing. I will have a look at ACAS thank you. Haven't yet signed up for payroll co but sounds like logically that comes before doing a contract.
