Will Surestart accept police checks from other countries?

My fab Aussie nanny has a police check certificate from home. Will we still have to shell out for a UK CRB check that will be completely meaningless because she does not usually reside in the UK and has only been here a couple of months.

What a pain - and a complete con £100 - for what? How come it is sooooooooooo much cheaper for childminders?

Childminders are heavily funded by the taxpayer, both for their CRB checks (for them, and their family), and also for their inspections.

While I agree that inspections are something that the taxpayer should pay for... I don't think that CRB checks are - after all, I have to pay for mine!

There was a recent Consultation regarding fees paid by childminders. As yet, no results have been published.
