This is the new nvq don't know how many people are doing it.... I'm finishing a project on child development and need to do a bit on factors affecting growht and development in 0 - 3, 4 - 7, 8 - 12, and 13 - 16 years.... have no idea been through all the text books which don't seem to hint at diddly squat. Not entirely sure if I'm even doing it on the right thing, the study day was on cognitive development but the project seems to be on general development!!!! Argh. Any help please!!!

Is it stuff like diet family circumstances, ill health, SN, Disability, environment?

(or am I off on one?)

I'd imagine so. Trouble is I was given two text books to work from. I missed two study days and when I saw my tutor as I said I'd do the coursework needed regardless she said it was totally covered by the textbooks, to the extent I didn't need any handouts.

One book is for the old NVQ which only covers up to age 8 and doesn't appear to say anything about factors affecting any sort of development, and the new one which is about child development, is broken down into ages with detailed descriptions of development... and again makes no mention of factors affecting development.

I thought pretty much the same as you (there's one part that asks for factors influencing foetal growth and I put things like low amniotic fluid preeclampsia etc) but I'm wondering how to make those things age specific????

Babies would be teething

I've written a more generic paragraph covering illness, SN/disability (I always group them as I'm not entirely sure of a difference ) change in home circumstances, environment, abuse, and low self esteem and bullying.

I haven't enjoyed this unit. I don't know if it's because it's the first where I've missed the study day but I really don't feel like I know what's going on. It's meant to be about cognitive development but I'm sure this project is about generic development. Argh.
