Hi think i have everything in order (nearly) for ofsted, any one know about a complaints poster you have to display for parents,just phoned sure start and they say you do need it, but they dont have any. Do you know if they can be downloaded?

I had my OFSTED last week and the new complaint procedure is in their revisions booklet to the standards, it's a white glossy one.

I had a little notebook on my cm shelf saying compliments, comments and complaints and photocopied a few sheets and stuck them inside. Other than that the book was empty. She was very impressed that I had that accessible for parents. That was all she wanted to see in terms of complaints, other than asking me what else I would do.

poster can be obtained by phoning 0700 2637 833.

I just have a complaints policy in my portfolio and my parents all get a copy (they get a copy of all of my policies and sign to say so). I then have a folder similar to Pol26 marked compliments and complaints and in it I have cards/letters from parents (compliments)and a copy of the complaints form which you would fill in should you receive a complaint (that's the one in the back of the Oct 2005 revision to the standards booklet which you can download from ofsted website if you don't have it).
Good luck with your inspection.

I have my first inspection too and to tell you the truth I am crapping it!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot get the blumin standards to stick in my head! Do you need to know the description under each standard or just the title? and how do they test you on it?

I haven't got any complaints forms so will check out OFSTEDS site.

Good Luck Boo70!!

I don't have a poster but have details of how to complain about me(just let them dare) in my portfolio. This was fine when I had my inspection on 11/05/06. Everyone panics when it's inspection time I know I did, I know it's easier said than done but if you try and chill out so you are as normal as possible for the inspection then the inspector can see how you normally are with the children. My inspector was lovely made me really relaxed then gave me outstanding.I was really chuffed.
GOOD LUCK

well they are two things I havent done! I thought we just needed to follow environmental health guidance not register with them.

So I had my inspection and learnt all the national standards off by heart and she didn't even test me on them!!

Everything well and I am now just waiting for my CRB checks to complete and I should have my certificate,

Yay!!!! {smile}

It seems some councils have decided that Registered Childminders should register as food premises - i don't know if the others disagree or just haven't considered it yet!

Seems to depend on where you live as to whether you have to register (YET)
