I have had a drastic change of circumstance and have to leave my house and sell it and then document everything so i can claim all the normal benefits of being a single mum.

I am starting to feel better than a i was a few days ago, i know about lollies, sweet, juice etc but had 1 child earnt 526 per month full time and have said that about 150/200 is about right for it seeing as i spend about 15o per month on petrol - always have mindee so i can claim every mile.

Need to know other stuff though.Percentages per month based on 8-4 5 days per week.

Thanks

Gas/Elec 33%
Council Tax & Water Rates 10%
Wear & Tear 10%
Phone - itemised or a proportion of the total depending on how much you use it for minding (I use 50%)
Mobile - mine is just for minding, but again proportion
TV lic/sky - I claim 50% (but you might clamin more or less)
Food/wipes/toys/books/cds/videos/dvds

You work 40 hrs so you can claim the full amounts

I thought for benefits they just disregard a set amount rather than use account - but I could be wrong

Katymac · 19/06/2006 15:56

Are you OK?

zoeuk1 · 19/06/2006 21:05

i didnt know we were allowed to claim for the tv licence/sky tv. how much can i claim for that? my mindees dont really watch much tv to be honest though.

Katymac · 19/06/2006 21:18

I was told I could by a tax person - but other minders have been told they can't

alison222 · 20/06/2006 10:30

claim milage rather than petrol at 40p per mile.
Any extra things like carpet cleaning window cleaning etc you have had done recently.
Any toys you may have bought
Sand for the sand pit etc
When you take the children out you can claim your food too.
All playgroup etc costs.
Any annual tickets you may have for entrance to places
any phone calls made from your home phone
presents for the children -cards and wrapping paper too if you have bought them any (both x-mas and birthdays.
All the usual stuff for playdough, arts and crafts activities etc.
bus fares if you use them
Parking costs if you take the car out with them.
Basically anythiong you spend if you when you are looking after them if it relates to them.

allieballie · 20/06/2006 12:49

All cleaning materials and toilet rolls - about 50%?
Have you claimed enough for mindees food? I spend a fortune on fruit. Milage to the supermarket, even if you're without the child there'll be something in the trolley that mindees will eat.
Stationary, stamps and stuff.
Comics?

Hiya Jelly, not ignoring you, just been posting on other thread instead. I know what you mean about having to prove you are skint. Remember dh loosing his job meant family income of £546 before costs but they still treated us like we were trying it on! I'm sure they'll be better with you as your circumstances are very different and they do tend to prioritise lone parents.

Have you received my emails from this morning?

Catch ya later xx

jellyjelly · 20/06/2006 13:47

yes i know you are here thinking about what qualifications to do now i have the rest of my life to provide for ds and thinking how i can best support him by retraining.

looneytune · 20/06/2006 13:54

So, do you think you'll end up stopping childminding or continue with more children?

You never confirmed if getting my emails? Just checking in case there's a problem and you're not getting them! x

looneytune · 20/06/2006 13:58

Did you try any of those websites I listed on the other thread?

jellyjelly · 20/06/2006 17:25

Think i am getting them and replying, need to figure out what to do, think am selling house will continue for the meanwhile but not for that long there is no point in me working full time for 25pw and i wont be able to do it in a rented house and need to put us first for the first time and dedicate all my love, time and support to my little love of my life. This yr after the accident made me relise alot about my love for what was my family now ds.
