Anyone have some au pair "rules" or "instruction guide" I can use?

Hi. I hope to have an au pair with us in about 10 days. We have not had an au pair for several years and I wondered if someone had an instruction guide/how to/things I would like you to do guide they had used which I might use as a base for ours. If I do it from scratch I am bound to forget a lot of the straightforward things it is useful for au pair to know. Many thanks

Not sure what exactly you need to know....

I think it's a good idea to write down what you expect from her on day to day basis and discuss with her.

many of the au pair agency websites have guides of both au pairs and host families, including some suggestions on rules - picking an example at random: www.universalaupairs.com/family/living_with_an_au_pair.html#houserules

this covers some of the basics.

note: i know nothing about this particular au pair agency, and am not endorsing it in any way.

we took on an au pair recently from another agency, who mailed an information pack to both us (as the host family) and our au pair, which covered similar areas in a bit more depth, as well as other areas such as preparing for their arrival etc.

Hi if you message me your email I will happily send you the guide I give my girls when they start.

I outline stuff about all the kids likes and dislikes, routines, contact numbers, hours I work, what dh does, local area info. Etc.

If that's what your after Smile
