i was just wondering. i have a couple of mindees that have started to scooter home from school when i pick them up. should they be wearing helmets? they are both 10yrs old and are obviously riding the scooters on the path and not going fast.

I wouldn't make mine wear them.

Where's the best place to get those scooters from btw?!

argos. they have the folding scooters for 9.99 so ive got them for the older mindees to come home from school on. they are really light too, so easy to carry.

Had a discussion with a mum this week as her son doesn't wear a helmet on his bike at home. I've explained that, as a childminder, I have to be much stricter than I would be as parent - because of the consequences if her child is involved in an accident and I am found not to have taken all the possible safety precautions.

Local preschool had a trike trundle a while back - all the 3-4 year olds had to wear helmets on their trikes & scooters but I doubt if many of them bother when out with their parents.
