we have a permanant 3/4 time nanny who we employed 1 yr ago ( our first) , it was great at first but in the last few months things have really gone down hill , culminating in a total of 8 days off sick since christmas...we have been supportive but now feel really pissed off ( too many little issues to mention that have built up ) DD1 is at school and dd2 is nearly 2 so could cope with nursery 3 days aweek we think BUT it leaves the school hols ( dd1 at private prep so LONG hols) has anyone out there ever found a holiday nanny ( summer hols in particular could probably juggle the others), a friend suggested an agency that specialises in aussie girls ( we could do live in ) who come over for working holiday type jobs but couldn't remember what it was called...any help please i am so stressed by all this i have actually been crying while i type this.

Students are often a good bet for temp summer nannies - gumtree tends to be overflowing with them and a lot of them are trainee teachers/early years students or other child related courses. If you can offer accommodation then you'll have a fairly good selection.

Don't cry - a childcare solution is out there somewhere for you. Take a deep breath. Think about how many hours/what duties you need. Think about the kind of person you want. Think about what you're willing to pay.

Come back to MN and we'll sort you out.

How much experience do you need? I was just talking to someone who I really only turned down because my old nanny was looking for a job. And DD misses this particular nanny very much so of courseI hired her. But this Polish girl seems lovely.. although she's a bit young(early 20s) and not gobs of live-in experience. Let me know if you want to know more.
