Is this childcare plan too unsettling for my DS?

We are moving house in September (to very far from where we currently live). DS turns 2 in November and there is an absolutely wonderful nursery that starts from 2 that I am very keen for him to go to. We will be away for two weeks so that really just leaves 5 weeks until he can go. If I got a temporary childminder for that time and then moved him to the nursery would that just be too unsettling? Getting used to someone new and then shifting agian so soon? As well as the moving house etc?

I don't think my DS would have coped too well with all that. My DD however would have taken it in her stride. Its not a bonkers plan it just depends on the child...

Yes IMO it probably would be.

He is very easy going and have left him a few times with people he doesn't know in emergency situations and he hasn't batted an eyelid. But maybe it does seem too much. Should I just forget the nursery and try and find a great childminder? Or maybe find a childminder and then when he's two send him part time to each?

Would you consider a nanny until then. Maybe easier to have someone in your new house rather than taking your DS to someone elses house. Just an idea.

I would forget the nursery, use a childminder then maybe when he's 3 he could do nursery + childminder - some people do this when they get the free 15 hours.

2 is very little and 2 year olds find moving ime quite hard - they are tied to their little routine and old enough to know something's going on without being old enough to understand it. I wouldn't throw extra changes into that mix if possible.
