CM Club: What do you do about pay during Settling In Period?

I recently lost one of my new babies as she wanted 2 days a week and I only had 1 day available (was on waiting list for another day but then pressure at work meant she needed to start the 2 days right away).

I'd taken payment in advance as usual so have to refund some of the money.

I just wondered whether this is what you do too or do you not take payment in advance until they have completed the settling in period?

I charge in advance even for settling in period, have you got another account that be used to hold money if it doesnt work out.

It was ok as I had it aside but I wondered if this was normal to still ask in advance (i.e. whole month)? More thinking from a parents point of view iyswim.
