How much do you pay a teenage babysitter?

I live in north London and my dd who is 16 and about to enter 6th form, would like to earn some pocket money over the summer months by babysitting. She isn't sure how much to charge and it has been a number of years since we ourselves have paid a babysitter for her!

Any suggestions please?

We are in Herts... We pay our babysitter 25 pounds for an evening but we are always back before 12. I think around 5 pounds an hour is a about right for your daughters age, but not sure if prices differ where you are. Charging a reasonable amount should result in lotsof bookings!

Yes, my DC charge £5 per hour too (but usually get a healthy tip too!)

We pay a friend's daughter £15, we usually use her from about 7.30 - 10.30/11pm, so it's about £5 per hour. It was her Mum who suggested the amount! We live about 30 miles outside London in a small market town.

We pay £3 per 30 min (and also pay for the taxi to get her home).

Many thanks for your suggestions, £5 appears to be the general advice so that's what we'll go with.Grin
