Au pair car insurance

This is probably a really silly question but how do you insure an au pair to drive? Are there any special insurances available? We need to get any new au pair a car for her to drive as there is no spare one at home in the day. Do we just get her her own standalone policy? I would be interested to hear other people's experiences. Many thanks.

Standalone policy will be frighteningly expensive. The best option is to get her as a named driver but you'll need to use it frequently enough that she isn't seen as the main driver, so any nipping down to the shops on Saturday morning etc.

The best thing to do is just go online and compare what you can get for that car, her age and the length of time she's been driving.

Remember you will need to put business use on there as she is using the car to transport children as part of her job.
