Sitters.co.uk booking question

Asking here because a lot of MNers seem to use Sitters.

I've just booked for the first time for this Saturday night (eek - please reassure me, am nervous!)

Question is - I've only received a text to say the booking is confirmed and the name of the babysitter, no more info than that. Should I expect any more detail about the person I'm leaving our 14 month old with for the evening??! Or should I contact Sitters?

A friend

Oops, posted too soon! A friend of mine works for sitters - the process they go through to recruit their staff is very very tough - she had to show several years of childcare experience (not just baby sitting, but nanny or au pair or crèche work) with at least 2 or 3 references who they contacted (I was one of the references and they ask a lot of questions about ages dealt with, qualifications etc.)

She's only put forward for sitting jobs with kids that are at least as old as the age she has experience with (she's a teacher so can't take jobs for under 4s I believe).

By all means ring sitters if its playing on your mind, but I really wouldn't worry, you'll get someone lovely with heaps of experience who has direct practice with babies the age of yours.

Enjoy the freedom!

The sitter will contact you about an hour before she's due to come to confirm the booking. I usually ring about 90 minutes before I am due to arrive. You will not know anything about her unless you ring sitters and ask. They may be able to provide you with some information.
The registration process is really good ... they have followed all my previous employers and references.

I think by now you'll have received a second text (I normally do with a new sitter), usually says something like Linda has experience as a teacher and has worked for sitters since 2001.

If you haven't received that I'd give them a call.

Thanks everyone. I emailed them and they said they'd tried to call (hmm - no missed calls and they have my correct number) but they have me some details and I'm totally happy. Am heartened by the volume of good reviews of Sitters on MN!

I am a sitters sitter! I'm also a registered cm so the process was fairly straight forward. Nevertheless the only info I get is your name and your children's names and ages....With the address, of course!

Their sitters are top quality

Sitters are great - have had our lovely sitter tonight and she's coming back for more on Thurs... Have a great evening on Saturday!
