CALLING ALL CHILDMINDERS - URGENT!

There is now a very short timeframe in which to influence the Families and Childcare bill - this includes childminder agencies.

Please can all childminders go to the link on UKCMA website (below), read the information and RESPOND via Email?

Please pass this on via Facebook groups, childminding groups, friends and colleagues to as many childminders as possible.

They need to know the things you like:

Who do you want to inspect you (OFSTED, LA, ???)?
Who do you want to supply training (LA, Membership organisations, ???)?
Are you prepared to pay towards any of these things (% of actual cost) or pay the market rate?
Do you want peer support groups, websites, online training and anything else you can think of?

We have two weeks - and only a week to get our views to UKCMA so they can be passed on.

If you DON'T want to join an agency, there are two things you need to do before Sunday pm - yes, BEFORE THIS SUNDAY (23rd June)

  1. Make sure you have signed the petition and told everyone you know.
  1. Email the UKCMA your views.

This message comes via Penny Webb, who has been campaigning over the Families and Childcare Bill (change to Ratios etc). She is working with the UKCMA (UK Childminding Association) who, last week, discovered that the Bill is now passed through Parliament and going onto the House of Lords.

Penny's blog, One Voice, has collated all the information and views about the Childcare element of the Bill. You will find details of the petitions here:

I don't mind doing this even though not returning to minding but can you tell me if it's a quick thing as I'm one handed on keyboard thanks to giving birth yesterday Wink

Congratulations!!!
I thought I hadn't seen you around recently x

The petition is a one hand job - straightforward name and address with optional reasons.

The email response to UKCMA is a bit more involved, but you just put as much or as little as you want to.
