What is the average hourly rate for a childminder?

For after schoolcare 6yrs and 9yrs? Sorry I know it is probably all over the place but I can't find mention of rates ATM. We are talking Scotland not the SW and is it normal to charge a reduced rate for a sibling?

Am nowhere near your area so no point in telling you my rate! I charge the same hourly rate for all the children I have, although some childminders may charge a bit more or a bit less for before/after-school children.

Some minders will do a reduced rate for siblings, other don't. There's no "normal" arrangement really.

No not really . I just want a ball park figure as to what is charged these days to give me an idea about what is my best option.

Well I charge £3.50/hour per child!

Thanks thats gives me something to work on, I have an interview on Wed and the reality of things like childcare are starting to kick in and fill me full of doubt.

That would work out at £21 per after school day, as I suspected it would be cheaper to buy MIL a cheap car, plus she can take kids to activities that the CM wouldn't.

Thanks for the link I forgot about that site. It seems there are 2 childminders that will pick up from their school, yes only 2, and they charge abour £3 ph.
