NEW CHILDMINDERS - join me for some support? (old CM'S welcome too of course)

Just noticed there seem to be a few of us knocking about lately and thought we could support each other whilst waiting for those very important phonecalls - what dya think?

i have been out on a mission this morning to try and raise my profile. i went into town and put a card up in the library, newsagents, mothercare mummys room (your not supposed to but they can take it down when they realise) i got a 10% discount card from early learning (you have to take in your reg cert to get one)
im considering going leaflet dropping - is it worth it?

I've been childminding for 14 mths now, I did a leaflet drop after a few months of having no phone calls. I dropped about 150 leaflets and had 3 enquiries and out of those three a mindee.

Hello - Hope its going ok LMGs. Its a shame we dont live close. I had a call from a chap last night wanting me to cmd a 3 mth old baby. Im not registered yet and have a young baby but I could have passed him on. LMGs make friends with other CMers at playgroups I think you will get mindees that way.

isyhan - nice idea, i couldnt have had him either tho cuz ive got a 7mth old. i do think i need to go to m&t group im a bit shy tho so ive asked my friend to come (as she knows everyone) but she hasnt replied yet Grin

meant to say if my friend doesnt want to come ill have to brave it on my own, im scared tho - u know how cliquey these places can be.

ive only been registered a couple of weeks and im working eves/ wkends so i have some money but would be nice to have at least one mindee Smile

LMGs Ive had 5 enquiries so far from doing that and Im not yet registered! Also parents have told me that its good for them to see cmders with children so they can judge before asking.

have you got msn? if you give me ur email address i can add you - you will help loads im sure, you seem to be so competant - where as im feeling a bit like - why would anyone want me to look after their precious children i need some confidence and a damn good shaking thats what i need lol

at least we can keep each others spirits up cause it is hard. i went out to do a leaflet drop and got chatting to a lday i see all the time at the school (but never speak to) she asked me to give her a job Grin obv i explained i havent started yet etc so she said she's got an 11 week old baby and she'd call me when she does find a job and she'll put in a good word for me with the other mums she chats to, so its a start!

I done aleaflet job in the past, fancy flyers but not one call, havent bothered since. I have a full timer and a one a week school run and that is fine. I dont want anymore at the moment.
