My tax return.

Submitted today.

I would like to put money aside for future payments. Has anyone set up the direct debit with the Tax people? if not what have you got in place to deal with payment?

When do you start your tax return? Will endeavour to do it earlier next time, Not in Jan.

any advice with have you do your return will really help.

Do most people do the return themselves?

I can now concerntrate on catching up on what I have put on hold (yippee!!!)

Well done I'm a maternity nurse so slightly different but self employed still the same.

I put a third of my earnings aside for payments. This more than covers payments.

Every month I set aside time to do my paperwork. Print off bank statement. Then write down my incomings and outgoings. I staple these together with an envelope. Inside the envelope I put invoices and receipts. This I send to accountant sometime in April. Accountant then does my report and I know how much I need to pay in advance. Ny accountuant submits the info to the gov, I was audited 3 years ago now and am to scared to do it by myself.

My system works well for me, no stress and probably two hours maximum a month I do paperwork relating to tax.

Thank you for that mrswishywashy you sound very organised to me Smile

If I use an accountant can I put the cost down as an expense? Someone said I can but wanted to check this information.

How much does an accountant cost?

I am looking at my options.

This year I want to do much better than previous years (organise myself). I cm six in the term time and one in the hols. I have four of my own. I do not think I am disorganised. I think I have a lot on.

I want to organise my paper work better. Still waiting for Ofsted to come. Due November 2011.

Yes

Mostly from about £250 but there are a couple of practices that specialise in childminders and charge about half that.

An accountant won't help you get your paperwork organised though - they can only work with what you give them. I am involved in a new service for childminders to help with this which will be advertised on Mumsnet shortly.

"Still waiting for Ofsted to come. Due November 2011."

The inspection timetable was thrown out of the window during the summer so now you can expect them any time before September 2016. If you were graded good or outstanding last time it is likely to be later rather than sooner.

Mr A. This thing you are involved in, wont happen to include an app based accounting/invoicing type package will it? (Just before I go purchase invoice2go)

Some accounting but not invoicing at first. And (if you are technical) it will be cloud based rather than app based (i.e. only accessed over the internet), probably (due to data security concerns) always - the thought of parents' and minded children's personal details on iPhones is too scary.
