how to make fake onions

As it says above really, eldest charge is having a french day at school on wed so need some accessories, and not sure how to make them

American Tan type tights stuffed with newspaper balls and lines drawn on with felt pen?

Would sending him with onions and a baguette be a bit un-pc?

How about dressing him in red white and blue instead?

Probably would be... I've managed to make some fake onions. Hadn't even thought if a baguette! Though she would probably eat it before she got too school! I've got her a blue and white striped top.
