Was with an Agency today with my applications etc.. for an AuPair.

Ideally we were looking for one for a year and preferably Polish but they told me they were impossible to come by and the earliest any were available was July Shock. Anyway she had one application from a French girl - available in May and looking for a 4 month placement.

She gave me her file and she seems to be everything we are looking for so looks like we will be using Uwilas questionnaire very soon Wink

We had a few things in our favour as regards our application - ages of the kids, what we are willing to pay, her job description, the fact that we have a cleaner and the fact that we live in a town with good amenities.

So please, please send some positive vibes our way. Smile

Hi mishmash. I'm puzzled. There are millions of au pairs dying to come across to English speaking countries. How could you have only one applicant? Please tell me you are not paying an agency fee for this level of (dis)service!

Have you been to greataupair.com?

bundle · 12/04/2006 12:34

also a neighbour of ours found some excellent applicants on gumtree.com

Uwila · 12/04/2006 12:36

Mishmash is in Ireland. I was going to mention gumtree, but not sure if they have much of a market in Ireland. Do you know, Bundle, if they are good for Ireland as well?

bundle · 12/04/2006 12:39

just had a quick look if you go to gumtree.com there's a list down the right hand side with other gumtrees - cork, dublin etc at the bottom of the list..

Good luck mishmash - I hope you get someone as lovely as our au pair, she's transformed out life for the better!

Nightynight · 12/04/2006 13:05

mishmash, try AuPairWorld.net, there are zillions of Polish Au Pairs on there.

And if you employ a cleaner, you can take your pick of Au Pairs, they'll be fighting to come to you!

mishmash · 12/04/2006 13:58

Thanks everyone - Uwila it isn't that they don't available AuPairs but most are not available until June/July and we need one now.

Have just been on Nighty Night's recommended site and again most of the Polish girls I have looked at so far aren't available until later - will go through the site in more detail later.

I have only registered with the other agency Uwila so if I can find something on the other sites I will certainly keep my options open.

Good Luck Mishmash! Czech and Slovak girls also have a very good reputation. Can you e-mail me the name and address of the agency you used which is local to you so that I can pass it on to my fabby au pair when she leaves us this summer (sob) as she wants to work in Ireland. Milton Keynes sadly holds no charms for her.

Consider it done Miss Tanzie - actually Tanz remind me of when she is available again because she could still be worth keeping in mind depending how this works out. Smile
