When to advertise?

Pretty sure we'll be going down the nanny route for some of the time after I return to work in the new year. One of our regular babysitters who is a nursery nurse would be interested if it is just one long day a week because she can do NN work p/t but whilst I like her and my DD1 adores her she hasn't nannied before so we might be better seeing who else is out there. If I want someone to start in mid jan when should I advertise? Would most people have a 1 month notice period to work?
