Hi I am a childminder and I have been asked if once a month I would look after a 4 year old who is in full time school Monday - Fri day and night. How much should I charge???

I'd charge your normal hourly rate from 8am til school drop off then 3pm- 6pm then charge a nightly fee of about £50

imsotired · 28/07/2012 09:53

i would charge the same rate as you do in the day. the parents will either go for it or not depending on thier circumstances.

if its too much for them, it will at least start the negotiations.

Also would you charge for while they are at school while parent is away? As if they have to come home you will be responsible? X

I would expect to pay your normal rate for 24 hours per day plus a one off enhancement for overnight care.

I charge £70 for an overnight stay.

My normal rate is £3.50 per hour. I have one child overnight one night per week. His normal hours are 8am to 6pm. For the overnight care I charge a lower rate of £3.00 per hour, for the 14 hours from 6pm when his daytime contract hours end up until 8am the next morning when his daytime contract hours start again. That works out at £42.00 for the night, which I am happy with. His Mum was happy too as she expected to pay about £50.00.
