The mum of my two under-5s says that they will be leaving when I have my baby, she's having family help instead. Fair enough, there's a few problems going on too. However, I've had a phonecall for kids, one under 5 and one over. I've left myself advertising as I've always been worried my mindees will just not come one day.

The lady is coming for a visit, and if I think it goes well I may give notice to current children. However, I'm in a bit of turmoil.

It's a lot more hours (from 30 to 46) which I think might be a struggle with a newborn. I usually have days off midweek which I now won't get. Plus it's not any more money (as only one is fulltime, one is at school.)and I could just wait for more school kids anyways.

Also, this means I won't be able to get anyone to fill my second under 5 place before I have the baby... noone will want me april to august.
And we might be moving.. dh is looking for a new job which we'd need to move away for. I'd feel quite guilty taking on children to give notice in a month or two.. plus it'd look better to just have current mindees as long as possible...

Any thoughts?

I would agree that the longer hours could be a pain when you have your own baby. And you won't get any days off midweek. And you won't get any more money. And ... hang on a minute, are there any positives???

You could tell the new lady about your dh's job etc., she might be happy for have you for as long as you could manage?

It's nice to think that someone wants us, (especially with all those posting about being desperate for work), but it shouldn't mean we should take on something that we're are not really happy with.
