nanny for special needs child

I have a friend with an 8 yr ds with sn. He hits himself quite badly when upset and other people. She also has another dc who is 10. Friend has some respite care for overnight and help from ss. Her ds is in a special school.

She is currently at her wits end because she works and has lost her nanny. She has advertised on gumtree but can't find anyone suitable. Does anyone have any ideas on best place to find a lovely nanny who could do this job well?

Many thanks

Is it live out? If so advertise locally, also via support group email lists, facebook group.

Hi,
There is an agency that seems to specialise in special needs, as in advertising jobs, however my thought was if you phoned to speak to them Im sure they would help your friend with any questionsetc. The agency is called Snap`

I'd second the recommendation for SNAP, I've not used them personally, but only ever hear good things about them and they specialise in finding nannies for children with special/additional needs.

I am a nanny who generally looks after cjildren with SEN/additional needs. I havefound 3 fantastic positions through SNAP childcare. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

where abouts are you as I do ad-hoc overnight respite care and obv there will be similar people to me across the country who are willing to do this.

I am a qualified childrens nurse and know other childrens nurses do this as well as teachers and teaching assistants.

has she tried www.childcare.co.uk

I got my current SEN job through childcare.co.uk, but it takes a lot of trawling through to find a nanny who fits family requirements by the looks of things.
