Anyone else not charge while mindee is at nursery?

Part time mindee starting nursery soon, I will drop off/pick up but am not being paid while he is there.

To be honest it never really crossed my mind to ask to be paid for it but another childminder has told me I am mad?

I have already told the mum though that I will not be on call for the hours she is in nursery as I have new things I want to start with younger mindees. Mum was fine with this.

This means that during holidays etc I will prob end up getting paid even though the mum can't really use me (unless she wanted to drop off then pick up twice to use the contracted hours)

God it sounds complicated written down!

All the childminders I know charge if on call. I don't think you can charge if you're not on call, but tbh I don't know any childminders that have this situation.

Do you think the mum understands that she'll have to find alternative care in the holidays?

She does not use me in the holidays anyway so that is not a issue.

If she had asked me to be on call I would have maybe charged half fees but she was fine with the fact I was not.

Was just something that I had never thought of before where as now it makes sense.

What does that mean if she doesn't use you in the holidays anyway?! I'm confused!

Sorry was a bit confusing.

She has never used me in the holidays as mindee usually goes to stay with dad but up till now mum knows I was available for the contracted hours if needed.

The new contracted hours will be a hour in the morning and 2 hours lunch time so if she did decide she wanted to use the service she had paid for during the holidays (more likely a in service day rather than holidays) she would be dropping off for a hour, picking up for the hours mindee would usually be in nursery then dropping off for the lunch time hours.
