Hi there we look after a child of 11 months. He is a big child and he pushes himself backwards. He hasn't got the hang of going forwards yet. He pushes himself backwards. Part of the problem is that he can't grip on the laminate floor.

I have an activity mat but it moves around and I have a alphabet foam mat the older ones take it apart.

I have been looking for big rubber mats that I can roll up but can't find them anywhere. All I can find are the yoga mats.

Ideas please.

By the time you have a mat the child will be walking Grin

HSMM · 23/06/2012 14:36

Removing socks and possibly trousers will help with grip

I was just in Ikea this morning and they have rubber backed playmats that look as if they'd grip really well to laminate. A few designs (road, town, forest etc) and range from £9.99 to £12.99 from memory. Decent sizes too.
